China has always attached importance to education and it
has achieved rapid development especially since the reform
and opening up in 1978. While encouraging Chinese students
to pursue study abroad, Chinese government kindly receives
international students and scholars to study or do research
in China. With the development of the congregate national
strength and the broadening of educational exchange, the
number of students has been on the rise. 80000 international
students came to study in China in 2003, which signifies
the momentum of studying in China and reflects that Chinese
higher education and quality have been widely recognized.
25 universities from 14 cities were selected by China Scholarship
Council to attend the exhibition. These universities enjoy
considerable fame at home and abroad. They are staffed with
high quality research and teaching personnel, equipped with
scientific research facilities, provided with standardized
management system and conditioned with sound learning environment,
which fully represents the strength of Chinese higher education
institutions.
Established in 1996 and entrusted by Chinese
government, CSC specializes in sponsoring Chinese citizens
pursuing study abroad and international students and scholars
to study or do research in China and exploring international
cooperation and exchanges. Since 2002, CSC has successfully
held education exhibition in Malaysia, Nepal, Australia,
New Zealand, Vietnam, Bangladesh and Pakistan. The exhibitions
were well received by the local audience and institutions.
It is hoped that, with joint efforts, the exhibition will
fully introduce Chinese education and universities to the
public and institutions of South Africa, so that more students
and scholars will go to China to study. At the same time,
we will make privilege of this chance to gain a deeper understanding
of South African education and universities and contribute
our own efforts to promoting the educational exchanges and
friendship between the two peoples.
