THE highlight
of this year's recent Chinese Lunar New Year celebrations in
Cape Town was a performance by Cathay Future Children's Art
Troupe, which made this year's celebrations one of the most
memorable of recent years. Nicknamed
"the little envoys of peace and friendship", the famous
children's art troupe consists of 300 children, all about 10
years old, who have performed in more than 30 countries.
These young artistes have entertained
and dazzled audiences worldwide with their performances of Chinese
traditional dances, music and opera. They are based in Tianjin.
During their recent visit
to Cape Town the children's troupe participated in various charity
events and they also took part in a cultural exchange programme
at Cape Technikon where they gave a demonstration of their talents. |
